Mike Ferrara
Founder/Owner
Mr. Ferrara is a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Mr. Ferrara credits his cooperative education experience with his desire to pursue a career in the RF/MW industry. Mr. Ferrara's career has primarily been in the defense electronics industry in the area of RF/MW integrated assemblies. These have spanned designs from single function components to wideband radar threat simulator systems involving up/downconverters, digital waveform generation and reception electronics to other low power RF/analog electronics, to high power GaN RF and high voltage/high current power electronics. Mr. Ferrara has performed work on AN/SPS-76, AN/SPY-1, MODAR (the weather radar for the C-130), radar threat simulators, hardware in the loop systems, jammers, direction finding systems, SIGINT systems, RF over fiber, SATCOM, and other various electronics spanning frequencies from 0.5MHz to 90GHz. His specialties lie in PCB integrated microwave assemblies with attention paid to system level KPMs such as gain, gain variation, NF, VSWR, compression/saturation, intermodulation, spurious analysis, and C-SWAP.
Originally from Baltimore, MD Mr. Ferrara moved to the Philadelphia area in 2013 after a layoff. His first aspiration towards starting a business came while in Baltimore. Through an encounter he had with a gentleman at a conference Mr. Ferrara saw how he could do the work he loved to do, RF/MW/analog electronics design, while living out his faith before those he interacts with in business. Mr. Ferrara's work life verse is Colossians 3:17, 23-24.

As Mr. Ferrara grows SRFS, LLC he hopes to use it as a vehicle to bless others, especially those that might have more difficulty in finding job opportunities. As Mr. Ferrara and SRFS, LLC is blessed, that will be extended to others. In addition, Mr. Ferrara will seek to train up the next generation of RF/MW engineers through cooperative education experiences, such as the one that led him to this field. That training will extend even to partnership programs with the local high school as Mr. Ferrara seeks to get more students interested in STEM related work.

Origin of Company Name and Logo:
The company name Sovereign RF Systems, LLC relates to Mr. Ferrara's belief that God is sovereign over all and that He works out all things for good to those that love God (Romans 8:28). Not only that, but over the 10 years time that Mr. Ferrara had been seeking the opportunity to realize this company he has had what some may call "chance encounters" with people and/or events that have spurred him to the realization of the company. Mr. Ferrara does not believe these are just "chance encounters" but more "divine encounters" that God was using to show him the plan He had for Mr. Ferrara and this company. Thus when it came time to consider a name having the word Sovereign within it only seemed to fit.

And yet again another divine encounter led Mr. Ferrara to Kevin Zepp of Zepp Graphical, a member of his church that he has come to know well, who became the person Mr. Ferrara sought to design the company logo. Mr. Ferrara had an initial idea and Mr. Zepp made it a pleasing logo reality. As you can see the cross is a prominent aspect of the logo as it is central to Mr. Ferrara's life, including his work life, but it is flanked by sine wave pulses much like one would see from a radar. All that is to signify the integrating of Mr. Ferrara's faith and work.

Mr. Ferrara believes there is salvation in no other person except Jesus Christ just as the Bible says (Acts 4:12 and John 14:6). You may also be wondering, what does all that mean? It is offered by many of the churches within the "denomination" I belong to and beyond. It is an introduction to Christianity and helps explore questions like: Who is God? Why must I be saved? Is the Bible reliable? Why is there so much suffering? and so on. You can view the videos yourself and follow the course, or you can find a church that may be near you to do it in person, or finally, you can interact with me as you watch each video and I'd be happy to answer your questions as best I can. Any question is welcome and there is no pressure to participate in any way. It is a resource I am offering to those who may be interested.
